This research aims to investigate the characterisation and transformation of periurban environments exposed to wildfire risk. It also aims to develop community engagement methodologies tailored to these settings, accommodating their unique characteristics and promoting their continuity. Through this endeavour, the research seeks to foster interdisciplinary dialogue, particularly from a sociological perspective, involving disciplines such as urban planning, architecture, design, and geography, to open up the potential and need to re-think the use of space in a climate change context.
Key words: community engagement, wildfire periurban risk, participatory methodologies, spatial planning for wildfire.
