I am a PhD student at the University of Birmingham. Prior to doing a PhD I did my undergraduate degree in economics, and my graduate degree in climate sciences with a specification in economics. I am interested in the fields of empirical climate and environemntal economics. In my PhD I am modelling the distribution of extreme events as well as studying economic impacts of wildfires by assembling rich data sets merging satellite data on a number of climate variables with economic data using applied econometrics.
See factsheet on Meier et al. (2024) – The impact of wildfire smoke exposure on excess mortality and later-life socioeconomic outcomes: the Great Fire of 1910, with the impact of the research on wildfire management and recommendations for policymakers, here.
