About ESR Denis Hellebuyck

 

Fire safety engineer and serial entrepreneur with an uncompromising drive for redefining risk frameworks.

Denis graduated from International Master in Fire Science Engineering between the Universities of Ghent, Lund and Edinburg. He has a deep understanding of fire science and has published a scientific paper on fire risk of dielectric liquids in nuclear facilities. Throughout the years he has been working on innovative fire risk projects across industries.

Moreover he has cofounded several start ups in the fields of renewable energy, drones and healthcare. His passion lies in making an impact through technological innovation.

He is currently working on a startup project related to wildfire prevention.

Research focus

Denis is working on a start up idea to create an insurtech AI powered digital platform that will allow for the wildfire stakeholders in the urban-wildland interface to track, incentivise and get rewarded for positive measures taken.

This is a successful approach borrowed from health insurance where people track there daily activities with their smart watches and get rewarded (e.g. receiving amazon credit as Luis Mario pointed out) for positive behaviour.
