Hello! My name is Pooja Pandey; I am an Early Stage Researcher (ESR) 13 with Pyrolife. I am excited to be working under the guidance of Dr George Boustras at European University in Cyprus. Specially, I will be working within the Centre of Excellence in Risk and Decision Sciences (CERIDES) researching interagency exchange. I will also be working within the FireAid in Denmark and Tecnosylva in Spain for my secondments. I am from India and have spent most of my life living in the northern part of the country. I have always read news about wildfire fueled by human activities […]
¡Hola! My name is Carmen Rodríguez, and I am from Spain, and within Pyrolife I am also known as ESR1. I am doing my research on the potential of social innovation to increase wildfire resilience in Mediterranean socio-ecological systems. I am part of the Governance team at EFI Bonn (Germany), and I am a PhD candidate at KU Leuven (Belgium). The first one of my two secondments will take place in Lisbon (Portugal), hosted by Águas de Portugal, and the second one in Athens (Greece) with Démeter. My background is on forestry engineering, but with my master thesis I already […]

I am investigating European structure vulnerabilities to wildfires under the amazing supervision of Professor Guillermo Rein. I recently joined Prof. Rein’s research team, Hazelab, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London in the UK. Hazelab is dedicated to innovatively studying heat transfer, condensed-phase chemistry and the thermodynamics of fires, both within buildings and in the wild. Prior to joining Pyrolife, I received a Master of Chemical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh. My bachelor’s thesis consisted of a group incinerator plant design, which introduced me to the complexities and beauty of fire chemistry and interdisciplinary teamwork. My […]
